Opine vs Homerun Presales

The deal doesn’t stop at presales. Neither should the software.

Homerun records the evaluation for the team running it. Opine turns that same work into CRM fields nobody chases, a forecast built on evidence, and answers your AI can actually give.

The short answer

What's the difference between Opine and Homerun Presales?

Homerun is a workspace where the presales team records an evaluation. Opine is the layer the whole revenue org reads from. The same deal data fills the CRM, backs the forecast, carries into post-sales handoff, and answers questions from Claude, ChatGPT or your own agents.

Homerun

A workspace where one team records the evaluation.

Who reads it

  • The presales team
  • Presales leadership

Row by row, in their own words

Described, not ticked. A checkmark can’t tell a template from a portal the buyer signs off in. Every Homerun cell is quoted from their own pages, so you can check it.

Same labels on both sides. The difference is underneath them.Opine left, Homerun right
Evaluation plans
Opine:

A portal the buyer logs into. They watch criteria go green and sign off there. Nothing to send, nothing to chase.

See how it works: Evaluation plans
Homerun:

Standardized evaluation plan templates that define POC/POV success criteria and track progress with the prospect.

Capture from calls and demos
Opine:

Calls, Slack, CRM edits and docs land on the deal on their own. A Mac app catches the calls your recorder misses.

See how it works: Capture from calls and demos
Homerun:

Auto-captures key information from recorded calls and demos to remove manual entry, and fills CRM fields for you.

Product gaps
Opine:

Requests reach product with the revenue they block attached, ranked across every open deal. The roadmap argument becomes a number.

See how it works: Product gaps
Homerun:

Captures product gaps, links feature requests to opportunity value, and shares them with product teams.

The external reporting side still feels a bit limited. Creating reports for people outside the presales team, like execs or external stakeholders, takes a little more effort than it should.

Parts of the UI can feel a little dated at times compared with more modern SaaS tools.

Execs waiting on reports. Postsales locked out. Integrations wanted. Data exported somewhere else before it is useful to anyone. Four of these six are the same sentence: the work goes in, and it stops at the edge of one team.

What that gap costs you

Not a missing feature. Three problems that compound every quarter the context stays inside one team’s app.

Your forecast is a survey

Ask five reps how a deal is going and you get five answers. What the buyer committed to, what is still blocking, who stopped replying: all of it sits in a tool the forecast never opens.

RevOps chases fields instead of fixing them

CRM completeness depends on one team remembering to update one app. So the reports don’t reconcile, and the person who could fix that spends the quarter sending reminders.

Your AI invents things about your deals

Your company standardized on an assistant this year. It can read your docs and your email. It cannot see what happened in the evaluation, so it fills the gap, and people stop asking it.

Close the gap

30 minutes, on your own deals. No slideware.

What closing it gives back

Averaged across the revenue teams already running on Opine.

0%shorter sales cycles, on average
0 hourssaved on every open opportunity, every week
0%higher win rates out of evaluation and proof

One person deploys it. Every revenue team runs on it.

There is no rollout. One person connects Opine, and everyone else keeps working exactly where they already do.

No rollout. No training plan for two hundred people. No change management deck. The work one person does on Monday is in everyone else’s tools by Tuesday.

What a workspace was never built to do

Not a feature list. Three things that change when the context lives outside the app that captured it.

Readable by the AI you already run

Homerun’s AI works inside Homerun.

Opine puts every deal into one shape your other systems can read. The assistant your company already pays for stops guessing.

Result: Fewer blind spots. Answers people trust enough to act on.

Fed by every source the deal touches

Auto-capture is only as wide as the sources it listens to.

Opine takes Slack threads, CRM edits and docs alongside the calls, and records locally when a call never reaches your recorder. Friday’s pipeline review reflects Thursday’s call and the thread that followed it.

Result: No pre-meeting scramble. No decision that only exists in a DM.

Still there after the deal closes

The evaluation is where you learn the most about a customer. Then it gets closed and forgotten.

Opine keeps that record on the account. Customer success opens it on day one already knowing what was promised and what nearly broke the deal.

Result: Handoffs that hold. Renewals nobody is surprised by.

What switching actually takes

Four steps, and one of them is genuinely expensive. Better you hear that here than find it in week two.

  1. Connect your systems

Salesforce or HubSpot, Slack, your recorder, your docs. Read access is enough to start and the first deals populate the same day.

  2. Plan a week

    Bring your history across

Closed and open opportunities come across with their activity. This is the step teams underestimate. Plan a week, not an afternoon, if you want the reporting right on day one.

  3. Rebuild your plan templates

Plan templates don’t port between vendors. We rebuild yours with you rather than hand you an importer that half works.

  4. Point your AI at it

Turn on the MCP server and Ask Opine. Not a migration step at all, and usually the week people stop asking why you switched.

Talk through your migration

We’ll scope it against your actual systems, not a template.

The grid plots every vendor in the category on two axes: how satisfied their verified users are, and how much presence they have in the market. No analyst briefing buys a position on it. It moves when the reviews move.

The UI and AI are amazing. We can now create complex POCs in seconds, compared to using spreadsheets. I also love how Opine helps us keep track of customer requests and bugs, allowing us to easily inform leadership about what's blocking our deals.

Captures every single step of PoV motion (opportunity details, account teams, customer contacts, PoV templates, Task assignments, Scheduling, Report Generation, PoV statistics etc.), and then some. It's cloud-hosted, very easy to integrate with key systems like HubSpot, Slack, Gong etc. & their pre/post-sales teams are very responsive.

Opine is very obviously made by SEs for SEs. I love that it incorporates data from Gong recordings, internal and external slack channels, salesforce, and more.

Brian G.

Sr. Solutions Engineer

Opine ties together the multiple tools I use daily to get my job done as a Sales Engineer effectively. Updates on meetings / sales process are provided in a single location and disseminated to other systems that consume that data. I spend less time inefficiently updating data in multiple places and more time on things that matter.

The team at Opine is super genuine, listens to feedback, and generally implements features or fixes in days, not weeks, not months, but days! The user interface is really easy to use and super catchy! They have a nice workbench where you can see what you're focusing on right now and build custom filters.

The questions that actually come up

Taken from real evaluations where Homerun was the other option.

Have one we didn’t cover? Bring it to the demo

Homerun already captures calls and fills CRM fields. Isn’t this the same thing?

It's the same verb doing different work. Homerun's pages describe capture from recorded calls and demos. Opine also takes Slack threads, docs and CRM edits, records locally when a call never reaches your recorder, and then makes all of it queryable from outside the product. Capture isn't the deliverable. What the context can do afterwards is.

We’ve already bought Homerun this year. Is there a case for moving now?

Depends whether your AI mandate can wait. If nothing is pushing you to make deal data available to an assistant this year, run your contract out and talk to us at renewal. If your company has already started standardizing on one and presales is the function whose data it can't see, that problem compounds every quarter you leave it.

Homerun has an API. Isn’t that the same as your context layer?

An export is a copy. A layer is the live thing. Their reviewers describe pulling data out through the API to build reporting somewhere else, which means somebody owns a pipeline and every answer is only as fresh as the last run. Opine is queried in place. Point Claude, ChatGPT or an internal agent at the MCP server and it reads the deal as it stands right now, with nothing to sync and nothing to rebuild.

Isn’t “AI-native” just a label both of you use?

Which is exactly why we don't ask you to weigh it. Anyone can print the word. The checkable question is whether an assistant can read your live deal context without somebody building a pipeline first. Ours can, through MCP, today. Their public pages describe no equivalent, and their own reviewers describe exporting instead.

How current is the comparison on this page?

Every Homerun cell is dated and linked. The table cites their public product pages and the date we read them. When they ship something that changes a row, the row changes. If you spot one that's stale, email support@tryopine.com and we'll fix it.
